Our long-established family shop on three floors in Southport's beautiful town centre, is so easy to find, only two doors from Waterstones, next to the Lakeland shop. We are open from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday - Saturday, but from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, selling not only many thousands of unusual and interesting books but also heaps of LPs CDs & sheet music, along with fossils, crystals, minerals, tropical shells, prehistoric, ancient and mediaeval antiquities, some small antiques and curios, a growing selection of coins, and much much more. Only a tiny fraction of our large stock is online. Please check out our regularly updated web pages and do call in the shop when passing.

Dear Browsers,

Andrew's well-published "do" for Record Store Day went down extremely well on Saturday; congratulations & 'likes' are still popping onto our FaceBook page at https://www.facebook.com/ParkinsonsBooks/ The shop was heaving all day and then on into Sunday with swarming turntable fans. Swarms more have visited, browsed and bought well into the week. (Jazz has sold particularly well.) We owe a big "thank you" also to our local newspaper The Southport Visiter http://www.southportvisiter.co.uk/ for all the publicity they gave not only to us but to other shops in the area celebrating vinyl. All our participating DJs deserve a sizeable dollop of gratitude too.

And --- to change the subject totally --- Sunday was a bumper day for large tropical shell. We now have only one natural Nautilus shell left and just two pearlised ones. One v. big & beautiful Triton's Trumpet Charonia tritonis and two magnificient specimens of the Great Yellow Helmet Cassis cornuta still grace the shelves.

Joan's recent acquisition of miniature hindu deities has gone down well.

To add to the week's variety a newly acquired collection of 19th. C. prints of chicken breeds is queuing up to be sorted & priced.

After many long hours of patient work by Andrew and Liam, the bargain ginnel is now well-lit and the shop porch is water-proofed and partly re-plastered --- more room for even more quirky stock.
