| Besides antiquarian, unusual & second-hand books (three floors of these), we sell crystals & minerals, fossils, shell jewellery, jewellery made from other natural materials, gemstone carvings, old coins, prehistoric, ancient and mediaeval artefacts (antiquities), ethnological artefacts, other natural history specimens, some small antiques, and much much more besides. Over the past couple of months we have extended the bookshelves from head-height to ceiling-height over two full floors; we have made a good start in this direction on the next floor above that. In addition, one store room has recently been turned over to retail. By the end of the year deo volente there will have been a good fifty per cent or more increase in book stock. The spacious covered-in bargain area just in front of the shop is constantly being replenished daily with 50p each or five for £2 delights -- from the ordinary to the oddball -- as by-products of our ransacking of the crammed fourth-floor store room in the search for more & more main-shelves stock. Our shop apart, Southport's Lord Street alone is well worth a visit. It has lots of beautiful architecture and plenty of pubs and sticky bun shops. To find us easily near the impressive War Memorial, look for our ginnel (alleyway) amongst the three other shops with watery associations, namely Waterstones, Monsoon and Lakeland. |

THANK YOU FOR READING THROUGH TODAY'S REVISION OF THIS PAGE HEREWITH OUR CLICKS & MORTAR JOTTINGS FOR THE DAY This page was freshly revised & updated on Thursday 9th. Sept. 2010. The builder has arrived and now the leak is felted over. The slating is to follow. More stock sorting will follow as we feel less cramped by the danger to stock of incoming rain. Some of the scientific pamphlet material -- offprints etc. -- in the big store-room might now see the light of day. Can the world wait any longer for Fume Cupboards Revisited and On The Normal Period Of Submergence Of The Hippopotamus? I believe I also saw in there some years back On A Blind Shrimp From The Sea Of Galilee. Now at last Dimsy Breaks It Off may meet its match. Southport enters a new phase of urban beauty as the leaves change colour. All this and an excess of eateries along the Southport's most elegant street. ... Taken From Today's Home Page Jottings. |
